"As Treasurer of Meridian Township, Julie is working tirelessly to make our community a more welcoming home for all by diversifying our workforce so our employees reect the community they serve and supporting community
events that celebrate our cultural and social diversity.
Julie and I worked together to amend our non-discrimination ordinance to include sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression.
I’ve been working with Julie for 20 years, and can’t say enough about her. As our next State Representative, Julie will bring this same passion and dedication to our state Capitol to:
1. Amend the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to include sexual orientation, and
gender identity and expression.
2. Amend Michigan’s Ethnic Intimidation Act to include crimes committed against
persons based on their sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression, which is critical to addressing discrimination and violence against members of
the LGBTQ+ community.
When someone commits a crime against a person based on their sexual
orientation or gender identity, this person is a threat to the entire LGBTQ+
community, which makes it a hate crime based on the spirit and intent of our hate
crime laws.
3. Diversify our state departments so they reflect the state they serve.
4. Work with the education community, ACLU and Equality MI to establish new
support programs in our schools.
Please join me by voting for Julie on Tuesday, August 7!"
